Install a safe custom theme on PSP

Bored of your old PSP themes? This is the right place for you to update yourself on the latest PSP themes on the net and learn how to install your PSP themes and also customize your own PSP themes.

Please take note that if your PSP firmware is not match with the PSP themes version, then you might experience error. For example, my PSP custom firmware is 5.00 M33 and my themes are for 4.01. Only the wallpaper will be applied but the rest remains the same and not changed.

In case you didn't know the PSP custom theme or CTF theme, you can read my previous post about The Difference Between .PTF and .CTF Theme.

Before we start, I'll tell you what you need:
- The PSP Theme you desire
- PSP Firmware 5.00 M33 or higher
- USB to connect to your computer

Now you can have custom themes without flashing. The steps are exactly the same as when you're installing CTF themes only that you need to download an additional plug-in.

  1. Download the CXMB plug-in.
  2. After you have unzipped the file, copy the CXMB folder to the root of your memory stick "MS0:/"
  3. If you already have a seplugins folder and vsh.txt inside, open vsh.txt in seplugins, add this line (ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx) and save. If you don't have, just copy seplugins folder and its contents into the Memory Stick root directory.
  4. Add themes by putting CTF files in MS0:/PSP/theme/
  5. Now you need to enable CXMB (the plug-in) in your PSP Recovery Mode (boot holding down the building onto R). In the recovery mode click on plug-in and enable CXMB.prx

Here is an example of a CTF Theme:

The Difference Between .PTF and .CTF Theme

On hacked and Custom Firmwares for the PSP, aspects of the XMB can be customized such as the icons, battery and volume meters, the text displayed under each menu item, the animated wave in the background, and the bitmap for each month can be changed. The PSP contains 27 backgrounds, instead of the original 12, varying from color to color. On the original firmware, only the menu icons themselves can be customized via themes.

PTF is the official theme of the original format, more stable, simple.  PTF will only change your icon and wallpaper and it does not need custom firmware whereas CTF needs it. CTF is a very interactive theme because it changes the whole layout of the PSP including the PSP startup. CTF is by the players to produce their own format, gorgeous. Changeable, the most splendid of its characteristics. The effect of PTF theme by direct PTF file copy of the Memory Stick, PSP will be able to read. CTF format and will need CXMB this through a powerful plug-ins to achieve. CXMB is a brush-free F0 can be made the subject of the effect of F0 plug-in.

Final Fantasy Type-0 release Summer 2011 in Japan

Final Fantasy Type-0 release Summer 2011 in Japan Square Enix japan has launched a new website for Final Fantasy Type-0 and some new artwork and screens were revealed.

like Final Fantasy Tactics and XII, Type-0 seems like a far more mature title and nothing shows that better than the most recent trailer

The scope of the game is described as flippin' massive, it's so big that it's going to be released on two UMDs. It's even its own self-contained series, within a series. It's just like Inception!

We've all seen the amazing visuals of The 3rd Birthday. It's undoubtedly one of the prettiest games to grace Sony's handheld and I believe it's pretty safe to say Final Fantasy Type-0, led by the same team headed up by Hajime Tabata, will be no different. The trailers already look pretty darn amazing. Both cutscenes and in-game events have an astounding level of visual fidelity that any graphics-maniac can appreciate.

Not only does it look great, the gameplay looks like some good solid action RPG fun. The multiplayer will certainly be interesting to see.

Famitsu and Dengeki magazine have revealed bits and pieces of the battle system, describing it as a healthy combination of Crisis Core and The 3rd Birthday. Combat looks fast paced with the game letting you form a party of three and even switch between them as the situation calls. The magazines also speak of a gauge that builds up as you use abilities, presumably not unlike the Linkage/Crossfire gauge seen in The 3rd Birthday. This will no doubt introduce a level of strategy to the flow of battle. As for multiplayer, it looks like players will be able to hop into a friend's game and help them should they fall in battle. It's pretty exciting just thinking about the possibilities. Unfortunately, while multiplayer will more than likely work like a charm in Japan and Asia, it's too bad that the West does not share the same local multiplayer culture.

Square Enix has plenty of experience with the PSP, the fact that these games are just as good as any other big title on home consoles.

The game is out Summer 2011 in Japan. Hopefully we'll see it by the end of the year over here in the West.

Sony NGP: What is the front camera useful for?

Sony NGP: What is the front camera useful for? Processing and graphics power are some of the most impressive features on the NGP. This small device holds more power than any handheld gaming console in the world.

Since the NGP was announced, many people have wondered “What is the front camera useful for?”. Finally, we received information about it from a Sony inside developer.

      1. Highly possible that developers will be using this camera for 3D effects

The NGP features a camera on the front side which uses smart software for head tracking. The software processes the position to your head to make the illusion of 3D. A similar technique was used on the Wii during its early stages.

Sony NGP: What is the front camera useful for?

Especially since NGP has more than enough processing power to handle 3D capability, so we should be seeing tech demos eventually. The nice thing about front camera 3D is that they are universal, so anyone looking from the side will be able to see it, not just the gamer. Unlike the 3DS, a 3D NGP would not cause headaches and strained eyes.

Sony has finally gotten smart and added this capability for all the 3D gaming fan. Adding true 3D capability would cause the NGP to become much costlier, so hopefully the front camera technique will be valued at a much cheaper price. Hopefully, Sony will shed more light on the NGP in their upcoming E3 press release.

      2. NGP will have FaceTime feature

The front camera on the NGP will have a FaceTime-like feature. The FaceTime feature was first implemented by Apple on their iPhone 4 and newest iPod Touch. It is a video chatting feature which allows you to see the other person live. This feature would make the NGP look pretty impressive, since it would be the first portable gaming console to support it.

Sony NGP: What is the front camera useful for?

FaceTime will allow any two NGP users to connect to each other over a Wi-Fi network and have a face-to-face online chat using the front facing camera. It is similar to Skype, but there will be no typing.

Final Fantasy Type-0: going to be released on twoself-contained series UMDs

Final Fantasy Type-0 The first few details of Final Fantasy Type-0, previously Final Fantasy Agito XIII, have surfaced, thanks to the latest issue of Japanese magazine, Jump.

When it was revealed that Square Enix had registered some new copyrights for Final Fantasy Type-0 and a few other numbers, speculation was rife about what it could be. It's unlikely that anyone predicted what it would be though.

Square Enix has officially renamed Final Fantasy Agito XIII to Final Fantasy 0-Shiki, or Final Fantasy Type-0.

The decision was made because the development team wanted to make it a series in its own right, so there will be direct sequels to this title (Type-1, Type-2, etc.). It will still be part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, but only loosely.

Final Fantasy Type-0 While the game may have changed names, the Agito moniker still plays a pretty big role in the game's lore. Legends speak of a hero that descended upon the world and saved it from a calamity that shook its very foundations. Said hero was called Agito and, apparently, the students of Suzaku are gunning for the role. It's not an unfamiliar plot for a Final Fantasy game, which is exactly why it's going to work.

The other surprising news, was that the game will ship on two UMDs, yes two. It will be the first game to do so.

PSP Go production still active for US and Canada

PSP Go production still active for US and Canada This week saw rumors surface that Sony had ceased production of the PSP Go. That speculation was apparently confirmed, when Japanese sources quoted Sony as saying that production of the UMD-less variant of the handheld had been discontinued. That account was backed up by the official Japanese PlayStation site, which listed the PSP Go as out of stock and no longer shipping.

The Japanese Playstation.com site placed "shipment ended" notices on both the black and white PSP Go listings, along with several PSP-3000 color variants. According to the site, the only PSPs currently in production are PSP-3000s in black, white, silver, pink, blue, and red.

Following reports from Japan, a UK retail source has indicated that PSPgo production has been ceased in the UK. That's according to respected trade mag MCV, which is reporting that retailers have received word from their suppliers "that once current PSPgo stock is sold we will not be receiving replenishments".

Japan and Europe may be finished with the PSP Go, but SCEA says it's not done with the downloadable-only handheld device.

The PSP Go still production in North America.

At the same time, the North American Sony Style store listed the PSP Go as still in stock for $200. Now Sony is explaining why. In a brief statement, US Sony reps flatly said that, "We are continuing production of the PSP Go for North America." Sony also informed "We are going to continue to make shipments of PSP Go," after Amazon updated the PSP Go's product page to note the device was "discontinued by manufacturer." The reps did not comment on the status of the handheld in Japan or any other territories.

If you want to pick up a PSP Go before supplies are PSP Gone, you can still get one at Amazon for $200 in white or $233 in black. It's dying as it lived: too expensive.

Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection: much better graphics and new movies

FFIV Complete Collection box Final Fantasy IV is the classic of the RPG games. Nintendo DS gamers have already enjoyed the remake of this epic fantasy, now it's the Sony PSP gamers' turn. Besides the updated and upgraded version of the original game, this complete edition includes the lesser known and lesser played The After Years chapter, if you want to know what happened to the knights and the witches after that "happy ending", this is a game you can't miss.

The Complete Edition includes new scenes, much better graphics and new movies. If you have not played the Nintendo DS version before, you can still access the existing contents through the gallery mode.

      Game Features:

      • The definitive version of one of gaming's greatest sagas.
      • An all-new FINAL FANTASY IV Interlude game between FINAL FANTASY IV and THE AFTER YEARS that binds the two epic narratives together!

      Gameplay

Players have the option of beginning with any game of their choice, including Final Fantasy IV Interlude. final fantasy world final fantasy battle

Changes to the The After Years include seperating Ceodore's tale from Kain's, which was how it was in the original mobile phone release. Ceodore and Kain's original Challenge Dungeons are no longer merged with one another. Exclusive to this version of The After Years is a post-game boss called Lost Babil, which can be fought if the player talks with Challengeway on the True Moon. It is composed of three boss fights, which the player must assemble three parties for.

      Special Edition

The European version of Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection comes in a special edition package that features a fold-out box and contains a selection of art cards, a PSP screen cloth featuring Cecil and a new DLC costume for Cecil in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, which is based on the original super deformed artwork for Final Fantasy IV. The special edition will be available at pre-order and on launch.

PSPgo production has been ceased in Japan

      PSPGo

The PSPgo was originally launched in March of 2005, and since then we've seen a handful of hardware revisions. The biggest change though is that there isn't a UMD slot anymore, a more portable version of the hardware that's designed specifically for the recent uprising of digital downloads.

The latest news mentioning Sony has apparently pulled the plug on production of its PSPgo handheld, according to reports from Japan. With triple digit weekly sales, PSPgo died a long time ago. But Sony may be making it official.

The gossip comes by what it perceives as a blog run by a Sony Shop employee, “or at the very least a super hardcore Sony fanatic.”

It claims that "Sony has confirmed to his sales manager that production on the troubled portable system is indeed ceasing. The blogger's shop won't be getting any more shipments."

In addition, the site also notes that the handheld was removed from the Japanese Sony Store game page, You can still access the Sony Store PSP go product listing here, although you can't actually order the system because there's no stock and no forecast for when stock will arrive.

PSPgo hasn’t been performing particularly well in the Land of the Rising Sun, and is frequently outsold by the bog-standard PSP SKU and pretty much everything else on the market for that matter.

It seems digital download console to the global market is still too far, in some parts of the world where network infrastructure is not as futuristic that people expect.

The PSPgo has been designed specifically for digital downloads, so while it's possible to use it without ever getting online, you'd be missing out if you never connected.

      PlayStation NGP: Price vs Features

playstation ngp img Sony has given the strongest hint yet that we will be paying a higher than expected price for the NGP when it arrives late this year, or more likely early 2012.

In a recent interview hosted by Fast Company with Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) president Jack Tretton, he hinted towards a price of  several hundred dollars.

Until now we’ve heard conflicting rumors and suggestions as to what the NGP will cost. Sony’s European boss has said talk of a $599 price point is crazy, GameStop has already listed the device briefly at $299, a survey suggested it could be $250, and Sony has admitted it cut features to keep the device affordable. All that points to a sub-$300 price as far as I can tell.

But the latest comments from Tretton during the interview reference the pricing of the iPhone and iPod touch, and he states that you have to look at it as an investment for a number of years before saying “people are used to spending several hundreds of dollars” when referring to portable devices. Just as importantly he refers to the value of the whole package rather than just the hardware, and says a pricey platform will find an audience once the content is in place.
