Music Unlimited Comes to PSP
Sony has recently announced the official release of PlayStation’s cloud based music service for the PSP. It’s called Music Unlimited, and offers gamers an on demand music service, similar to that of PS3’s VidZone. The new piece of software comes with Sony’s latest 6.38 Firmware update; it offers users a database filled with 7 million songs, not to shabby. As well as this it has the ability to stream this music through various Sony devices, this includes: TV’s, PS3’s, PSP’s and Laptops. This service is available to all of mainland Europe as well as Australia and New Zealand. All of this music amazement is available at your finger tips, all you have to do is connect to your Wi-Fi.
But with most awesome releases like this, there’s always a down side. Sony offers a 30 day free trial to its users, nothing more than a trial though. The use of this software will roughly cost $5.00/£3.99 for the standard service, or $13.99/£9.99 for the premium service. The Standard service offers users the chance to stream music using this software without any pestering ads, however obviously the premium offers more. If you’re willing to dig deep into your pockets for the larger monthly subscription, you’ll receive the ability to search through databases of music manually whilst being able to compile custom playlists. As well as this premium users will gain access to exclusive channels, exciting stuff.
More than likely this software will soon be available for the Xperia Play Smartphone and would be included in this year’s release of the NGP. Currently Sony are the only handheld gaming console to offer music streaming, is this a chance to get one up on their competitors?
