Processing and graphics power are some of the most impressive features on the NGP. This small device holds more power than any handheld gaming console in the world.

Since the NGP was announced, many people have wondered “What is the front camera useful for?”. Finally, we received information about it from a Sony inside developer. 

1. Highly possible that developers will be using this camera for 3D effects

   The NGP features a camera on the front side which uses smart software for head tracking. The software processes the position to your head to make the illusion of 3D. A similar technique was used on the Wii during its early stages.

   

   Especially since NGP has more than enough processing power to handle 3D capability, so we should be seeing tech demos eventually. The nice thing about front camera 3D is that they are universal, so anyone looking from the side will be able to see it, not just the gamer. Unlike the 3DS, a 3D NGP would not cause headaches and strained eyes.

   Sony has finally gotten smart and added this capability for all the 3D gaming fan. Adding true 3D capability would cause the NGP to become much costlier, so hopefully the front camera technique will be valued at a much cheaper price. Hopefully, Sony will shed more light on the NGP in their upcoming E3 press release.

2. NGP will have FaceTime feature

   The front camera on the NGP will have a FaceTime-like feature. The FaceTime feature was first implemented by Apple on their iPhone 4 and newest iPod Touch. It is a video chatting feature which allows you to see the other person live. This feature would make the NGP look pretty impressive, since it would be the first portable gaming console to support it.

   

   FaceTime will allow any two NGP users to connect to each other over a Wi-Fi network and have a face-to-face online chat using the front facing camera. It is similar to Skype, but there will be no typing.
